Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (www.hscpoly.com) is one of the world’s leading providers of polycrystalline silicon and other silicon-based products used in the manufacturing of semiconductor devices and solar cells and modules. Headquartered in Hemlock, Mich., Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation is a joint venture of Dow Corning Corporation and two Japan-based firms, Shin-Etsu Handotai Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Materials Corporation.

Polycrystalline silicon (polysilicon) is the cornerstone material used to produce solar cells that harvest energy from sunlight. An ultra-pure version of the material is also the base-material for silicon wafers used in electronic devices. About a third of all the silicon used in manufacturing solar panels and electronic devices worldwide is from HSC polysilicon.
