Track star Wilma Rudolph helped put Clarksville on the map with her triple gold medal performance in the 1960 Olypmics. Wilma's fame was the catalyst for an explosion in recreation and leisure events in her hometown, which now attracts such events as the Tennessee Senior Games and the AAU Boys and Girls National Basketball Championships.

Clarksville offers 14 public and private gymnasiums suitable for tournament play. With the capability of converting to suit many sports, Clarksville hosts state and regional championships in volleyball and wrestling, as well as the AAU National Basketball Championship.

Soccer
The Heritage Park Soccer Complex is one of Clarksville's most exciting sports venues. The complex contains 12 playing fields, of which 4 are lighted. Other sites include 4 fields at Fairgrounds Park and 1 field at each of the 5 school complexes.

Baseball/Softball
Clarksville features 10 adult lighted baseball fields, 7 youth lighted baseball fields, and 17 softball fields that are suitable for tournament play. Four little league fields are available. All fields can be converted into youth fields with portable fencing.
